NEXT RIVAL POLICIES

WEATHER, EMERGENCY RESPONSE & SUPERVISION

This policy governs weather stoppages, unsafe conditions, sheltering, emergency response, supervision, check-in, pickup and safeguarding at Next Rival Sports programs.

Unsafe conditions

Outdoor activity stops when thunder is heard, lightning is seen, or threatening conditions warrant earlier suspension.

Move promptly to a substantial enclosed building or a fully enclosed hard-topped vehicle with windows closed.

Tents, dugouts, trees and open shelters are not safe lightning shelters. Resume only after at least 30 minutes without thunder or lightning and authorization from the designated safety lead; restart the waiting period after each occurrence.

The Organizer may modify, delay, suspend or cancel activity for unsafe heat, air quality, wind, flooding, field conditions or venue closure. A designated monitor will check conditions and communicate decisions.

Families must receive the actual shelter location and urgent contact information; this document is not a site-specific emergency action plan.

Suspension and financial treatment

No participant is required to remain in an unsafe area while waiting for an announcement. Staff must account for children during evacuation and handoff. Makeups, cancellations and refunds follow the approved Financial Policies.

This safety policy does not replace those remedies with a blanket weather waiver or forced credit.

Check-in, pickup and safeguarding

Guardians must identify authorized pickup adults, keep a reachable phone number, and follow check-in/out instructions. Staff will verify uncertain pickup authority and contact the guardian; children are not released to an unapproved person. A missing child or immediate threat triggers emergency procedures.

Guardians must collect children promptly at the communicated end time; the Organizer will not leave a child unattended because pickup is late.

No transport or off-site excursion is included by implication. Such activity requires a separate approved plan and consent.

Adults may not use the program to arrange isolated private contact with children. Abuse concerns must be reported directly to the appropriate authorities when required; internal reporting must never delay a mandated report. ChildLine: 1-800-932-0313. Immediate danger: 911.
